Chase Farms Novi Michigan Annual Garage Sale
This year’s annual Chase Farms garage sale was May 15th & 16th along with the Riverbridge Subdivision garage sale. Thanks to all who participated by either having a sale or or shopping a sale. We had 31 participating homes in Chase Farms this year (not including Riverbridge). If you have anything to share just send a note to anyone on the board. You can find their email addresses on the association page of this site or in your printed directory.
Notices
- Chase Farms’ Mail Carrier, Gerard, asks that we all check for bees and wasp nests in our mailboxes. The Post Office has already had to refuse delivery to some of us because of the current risk of being stung and the fact that they have frequently been stung in the past in Chase Farms.
They suggest spraying weekly with a bug killer and/or putting dryer sheets such as Bounce in the mailbox to keep the insects away.
We do NOT recommend spraying expanding foam insulation between the metal box and the wood box because it has damaged mailboxes in the past and increases the time and cost to make any repairs to a damaged mailbox.
The Chase Farms Board supports the importance of homeowner diligence in this regard and further supports the Post Office should they have to stop delivery to a box because of the presence of bees or wasps.
- Chase Farms residents are advised to keep all vehicle doors, garage doors and garage service doors closed and locked when not occupied. There is a current rash of thefts in both Chase Farms and in the subdivision west of us. The latest incident occurred early this morning.
Police advise that the perpetrators cruise both subdivisions looking for unlocked doors on vehicles, garages, or garage service doors and then take items of value they can grab quickly. Please also be on the lookout for suspicious activity and report it to the Novi Police.

Association Mailbox Policy
The CFHA has customarily maintained and repaired resident mailboxes regardless of the nature and cause of any such damage. However, this tradition has begun to have a material impact on the Association's budget as more and more boxes have been damaged, and many of the same boxes have required repetitive repair. Going forward, CFHA will amend its mailbox repair policy to the following:
- Accidental damage or vandalism to a resident's mailbox will be repaired at CFHA expense once within any 12 month period. Any homeowner whose mailbox has been damaged will be asked to file a Police Report and provide the CFHA a copy of said report prior to having repairs completed.
- Any subsequent damage to that same mailbox within a 12 month period will be repaired by the CFHA at the homeowner's expense. An invoice payable within 30 days will be provided to the homeowner once repairs are complete. Any failure to make payment against such Invoice will result in late charges and possible liens as per Association Bylaws pertaining to Annual Dues delinquencies.
- In the case where a mailbox is found to be in disrepair and for which the homeowner cannot provide a Police Report, the CFHA will make any necessary repairs at the homeowner's expense after giving the homeowner 10 days written notice.
- Any mailbox repairs made in a non-standard, noticeable fashion by the homeowner or homeowner's agent will be removed and professionally repaired by the CFHA at the homeowner's expense.
Mail Theft
It has come to our attention that mail is being stolen from Chase Farms mailboxes. As a precaution, put out going mail in your mailbox the day you want the mail picked up, not the night before. Please report any incidences to the Police, the Post Office and the Board.
